Pride…how does the English Dictionary define the word “pride”?

Pride: a high or inordinate opinion of one’s own dignity, importance,merit, or superiority, whether as cherished in the mind or as displayed in bearing, conduct, etc.

As we should know, pride was the very thing that caused Lucifer to fall from Heaven. He was already the most beautiful angel in heaven…whenever he opened his wings, beautiful music would come out. Wow! He was ALREADY created the most beautiful angel…yet pride entered in him and he wanted to be greater and higher than God. Pride made him challenge God’s authority and rule. He was able to convince 1/3 of the angels of heaven to go against God. That’s the pride that got them ALL him kicked out of heaven. 

Is pride a dangerous thing? YES. Doesn’t matter how small or big, pride is pride. And even the smallest of it in your system will cripple your very walk with God. How do I know? Because I’ve been poisoned with pride before. 

The Bible describes the word pride as DESTRUCTIVE. And if you read in the Old Testament, Kings who were full of pride had their Kingdoms brought down by God. 

Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16:18

Haughty: disdainfully proud; snobbish; scornfully arrogant

Pride is ugly. It’s  SIN. Humility, meekness, gentleness…it’s beautiful in the sight of the Lord :) I would rather pursue the things that please the Lord than the things that are an abomination to Him. 

Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel— ⁴ rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.                1 Peter 3:3-4

I’m not going to lie, I’ve struggled with pride before. Sometimes it lingers in me without me realizing it. But as soon as I catch it, I quickly repent. Pride is so ugly! I don’t want it because it’s such a bad fruit. :P I’m so glad Abba is so merciful and slow to anger. :) so GRACIOUS :D 

Pride is never ever a good thing. It’s written all over the Bible. Before I became a Christian, I would have never saw it this way. The world teaches us that pride is good, but God teaches us to humble ourselves which is far better :) I was very self-righteous. Thought that I was always right. I was wise in my own eyes. Believed that if I do good I receive good. When people wronged me, I cursed them, said that they deserve what came to them. Let me tell you something about these things….they have no place in Heaven. Jesus is not like this at all. We were created in the image of the living God…let’s take a look at how He really is :) 

Jesus, being God, NEVER once was boastful or prideful. He is meek, gently and lowly. He came in the form of a man, a servant. He is kind. He loves everyone. He is near to those who are broken and contrite in spirit. His heart is to comfort them. God desires all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:4) He is soo gooood :) He is the nicest person I will ever know. God is NICE :) He is KIND :) He is LOVE :) I can go on forever about Him…His very character is so BEAUTIFUL :) He is AWESOME :D

God loves us all, no one is excluded…rich, poor…different social statuses…He loves us all :) We are brought near by His blood :)
